Music investment platform Musicow has released its June copyright royalty settlement data. The biggest standout was Park Hyekyung’s Red Shoes, which saw a staggering 180-fold increase in per-share royalties compared to the previous month, following IU’s remake that drew major public attention.

Musicow conducts royalty settlements for the previous month on the 10th business day of each month, with dividends deposited into investors’ accounts. Prior to settlement, it publishes a summary report called the ‘Settlement Note,’ which highlights key data including: songs with the largest month-over-month royalty increases (based on pre-tax royalty per share), songs with continuously rising royalties, and a breakdown of royalties by media type.

According to the most recent Settlement Note, Park Hyekyung’s Red Shoes earned ₩21,218 KRW ($15.16 USD) per share in June royalties. This marks a jump of more than 180 times compared to May’s royalty of ₩113 KRW ($0.08 USD) per share. The increase is attributed to IU’s high-profile remake, released at the end of May. Musicow also published an official notice confirming additional trust assets due to the creation of a derivative work (the remake). A closer look at media-specific revenue breakdown for Red Shoes reveals that 89.9% of royalties came from reproduction usage fees, such as those earned from physical album production, film, and advertising.

Following Red Shoes in month-over-month growth were:

  • 4Minute – Only Gained Weight
  • C JAMM – Beautiful (feat. ZICO)
  • Daesung – Baby Don’t Cry
  • Cha Eunwoo – Rainbow Falling

Musicow also revealed the top 5 songs with the highest increase in royalties from performance media (e.g., concerts and live events):

  • INFINITE – Paradise
  • Daesung – Baby Don’t Cry
  • SG WANNABE – Writing Our Stories
  • Gummy – I’m Sorry (feat. T.O.P)
  • B1A4 – Beautiful Target

For transmission media royalties (from music streaming platforms and video-on-demand services), the songs with the largest increases were:

  • 4Minute – Only Gained Weight
  • C JAMM – Beautiful (feat. ZICO)
  • BAEKHYUN – UN Village
  • Zion.T – No Make Up
  • Davichi – Don’t You Know

A Musicow representative commented,

“The popularity of remakes and covers, as well as reunion and comeback buzz, are creating more opportunities for older tracks to see royalty gains. For those interested in specific songs, keeping an eye on related trends, media-based royalty distribution cycles, and artist activity can support more strategic investment decisions. Musicow will continue working to provide investors with more detailed and useful data through resources like the Settlement Note and our official web magazine.”
